Peptide Search
The PepString server is designed to search protein sequences that include short peptides as exact matches.
The length of a short peptide can be
3 amino acid residues or more.
Search for sequences of 7 amino acids length or more can be done on the
UniProt server
The search time for short sequences in Swiss-Prot & Isoforms is a few seconds,
in UniprotKB - from 10 minutes to several hours.
Multiple sequences can be entered using
comma or/and space as separator, for example:
ALC, RADGG
ALC,RADGG
ALC RADGG
or can be placed on a separate line each.
The maximum number of sequences in one request is 5.
OPTIONS:
AND operator: protein sequences including all peptides from the query will be found.
Query example: ALC, RADGG
Result: ALCCCCCRADGGVLM or
CCCRADGGVLMALCC
OR operator: protein sequences that include at least one of the peptides will be found.
Query example: ALC, RADGG
Result: MGLKALCLGLLCVLFV, WDMDGLRADGGGAGGAP
Taxonomy: the search can be limited by selecting a taxon of any level, such as Vertebrata or Archaea or Mammalia or Homo sapiens.
Database: select Swiss-Prot & Isoforms (approx. 613,000) or UniprotKB (approx. 246,000,000) database for search.
